Over the years, BS’s Subsea department has gained a wealth of in-depth expertise and experience in the field of subsea infrastructure projects. With respect to the development of offshore oil- and gas fields and subsea infrastructure viability assessment, we investigate existing subsea pipelines and cables, shipwrecks, maritime installations, wind farm developments, fishing activities and shipping lanes.

Subsea Infrastructure Design and Assessment

During different engineering phases, such as for feasibility studies, concept engineering and up to detailed engineering, we deploy our expertise and experience to assess every aspect of subsea infrastructure and assets. We thus assure that our clients’ developments will benefit from the most optimum subsea layouts.

In the design of subsea assets, we apply the latest design codes and standards and create the solutions that best fit our clients’ selection- and key performance criteria. This can concern materials selection, wall thickness optimization, detailed strength and stress assessments etc. Detailed cost estimates (CAPEX and OPEX) in relation to work schedules can be prepared, which often are a valued contribution to our clients’ field development plans.
BS has an extensive track record in subsea applications, with a specialization in applications in the North Sea. Among other activities, BS has a specialty in:

  • Pipeline design (routing selection and optimization, materials selection, stress checks)
  • Riser design
  • Approach and tie-in arrangement development
  • PLEM, Jumpers and tie-in design
  • Subsea Equipment (HIPPS, Cooling Loops, etc)
  • Subsea processing (Separation, Compression, etc)
  • Subsea Protective Structures
  • Installation Engineering (both shallow and deep waters) and fabrication support
  • Cable Lay Analysis
  • Pipeline risk assessment
